Holy Hot Dog

*when did Mason get so big???*

Couple things on my mind. First of all, is this week flying by for anyone else? Or is it just me. I mean, Holy hot dog it's already Wednesday!. I've got a couple fun projects I'm working on this week, one being Mason's photo album! I'm still unsure how I want to tackle all the pictures I've taken but so far I'm doing a good job organizing and uploading according to month... how to put them in an album? That's a different story.  Also, on my way to Safeway today I was deep in thought when I looked in my rear view mirror to find a van RIGHT ON MY ASS. And I mean, right on my ass- zero wiggle room. Naturally this has always gotten me fuming but now that I have a baby in the car along with road conditions that are icy and snow covered- it just gets me absolutely irate! The van turned out to be the florist van for Safeway. what the heck? I had every intention of confronting the guy but thought I better not when it was just me and Mason.  But gosh darn it you guys, how frustrating when someone rides your ass and how even more frustrating to learn it's the florist who's job is so beautiful in caring for flowers!
Anyways. Mason and I are home now waiting for Kev to arrive. I'll head to workout while the boys get some Daddy Son time.  Hope everyone is having a fantastic afternoon/night!

Have these words ever come out of your mouth? "I will never _________".. fill in the blank..

They've come out of mine. Like in the 6th grade when I announced "I would never wear Abercrombie and Fitch like everyone else" and the following Christmas every single item on my wish list was from A&F. Or the same way I vowed at age 16 never to eat pork again. (a highly unrealistic never considering pork is delicious!) and in most recent months I've been heard saying "I will never let Mason do that" Think of the random child misbehaving in the grocery store or the memory of a questionable decision made as a teenager and it's easy to say "My child will never do that" The problem is never is a long time and it's possible, slightly possible that those nevers might just come to pass. Don't get me wrong- I do not condone misbehaving or disrespect!! I am a firm believer in spanking our children and requiring of them. This is in no way a shout out to children doing what they want. So please please don't take this out of context.  But it is humorous to even think of saying "Mason will never..."  considering during my pregnancy I actually found myself believing that.. "I will never let Mason wear clothes that he's spit up in! Gross, I'll change him right away!" for anyone that knows anything about babies.. that is another very unrealistic never. So what's my point to all this never nonsense? I guess it's simply,  roll with each punch as they come, seek the Lord's wisdom in all things and.... promise to never say never again.  (because THAT is realistic) ha.

11 Random Things

I've seen this idea around the blog world lately and thought I'd join in..Here are the five rules:

1. Post these rules.

2. Post a photo of yourself and 11 random things.

3. Answer the questions set for you in the original post.

4. Create 11 new questions and tag people to answer them.

5. Tell the people you've tagged!

Well, since I'm starting this out in my realm of the blog world I'll skip Rule 3 and I'm changing the 11 to 6! Because let's be honest, who has time for 11 things?  I'll tag some of you that have blogs to join in (and seriously hope you do) but those of you who don't have a blog, please please answer one, a few or all of the questions in the comment box below! I'd love that!

.. and I am prepared for minimal participation and that's ok too! I hope you at least enjoy these 6 random things about me... Have a great evening!

1. My favorite lotion smell is grapefruit. It instantly ignites my mood to happiness. I love it so much! But unfortunately, I don't eat grapefruit.

2. I think Pride and Prejudice is the sweetest love story ever.

3. My ideal outfit..for pretty much any occasion, is jeans, a simple top, cute shoes and fun accessories. think: big earrings, fashion rings, bracelets, necklace, scarf, headband (but not all at the same time!)

4. I was in a sorority my freshman year of college.. but not just any sorority, it was a 'community service' sorority. Kev always makes fun of me for it! Everything we did, the events we attended and coordinated all centered around community service. For example: we had the idea to donate children's shoes to a charity that gave shoes to kids in need. So we threw a dance and all wore tennis shoes with our dresses, each brought kid shoes to donated and had a blast! Everything incorporated community service...and I Loved it! ps. Kev actually thinks it's pretty cool.

5.  I have a small addiction to reality tv. I can't help it! Check it out- Kardashians, Teen Mom, Real Housewives of.., etc..I can't get enough!  I don't know what it is, but I seriously enjoy reality tv... *embarrassed*

6. I hum Amazing Grace to Mason every day.

Now 6 random questions for YOU to answer:

1. What is the one electronic device you can't live without?

2. If time and money were no obstacle, what career would you choose?

3. Who's cooler? Zach Morris or AC Slater?

4. What does your ideal afternoon look like?

5. All time favorite movie?

6. Most visited website?

And I tag... Whitney, Brooke and Roberta !

A lovely Sunday

What a productive Sunday! Kevin and I are back at boot camp class and motivated to start the meal program again. I don't call it a D I E T because it's really just a life style change.. cut out sugars, say no to processed foods and eat lean meats, protein and lots of veggies. We got great results last time we were dedicated to the meal program- Obviously, I mean it's not brain surgery .. eat healthier and exercise and lose weight. Still, easier said than done. Anyways, today I spent the morning preparing our lean meats and putting salads together in individual containers for the week. I feel so motivated! Yes! It was such a beautiful day out that after I was done with my cooking I strapped Mason in the front pack and took a stroll around the block. It felt so good to get outside! I can't wait for Summer. Kevin however, spent the day shoveling snow off the roof- a task most worthy of a hot soak in the tub and a beer afterwards. He's such a stud.

A quick Hello!

We've accumulated 2 ft. of new snow since Sunday! It is C R A Z Y. I sorta don't mind it right now though because the temperature is reasonable and the snow makes me want to cook crock-pot meals and soup. Which, how can you not love crock pot meals and soup??   Anyways,  I started back at boot camp class on Monday. YIKES.  Enough said on that topic. Can you believe Mason is already 8 weeks old? Holy Crap. Where did the time go? He is getting so animated and smiles all the time. I love it so much! Well, just a quick hello! Hope everyone is having a fantastic week!

Currently

Obsessing over: Skype and Google Video. I guess I'm a little late to the party considering it's been years since Skype has been popular but I never really got into it. Until that is, my Dad initiated Google Video last month and now I'm hooked! (so friends, let's skype!)

Excited for: Snowshoeing today! It's finally warmed up enough to go outside and it feels like forever since I've breathed in fresh air. This will be Mason's first outdoor activity and I'm so excited to put him in his snowsuit!

Thankful for: My girlfriends. I have the most amazing group of friends and I'm so incredibly thankful for them. There is nothing better then seeing my phone blink with an incoming text from one of them, an e-mail to start my day or a picture reminding me of the wonderful times we've had. I love you all dearly and miss you.

Wishing: The Vow was showing at our local theatre. I'm such a sucker for romantic films. (Kevin LOVES that about me. HA!) But, our little theatre is about 1-2 weeks late on getting most showings, unless they are the big ones like Twilight or Transformers so I'm just patiently waiting for The Vow to arrive and drag Kevin to see it with me.

Listening to: Sounds of a sleeping baby awaking from his nap. Time to go!

What about you? What are you currently loving, doing? Hope you all have a fantastic Sunday!

A Testimony of Salmon Casserole?

Since being on maternity leave (unpaid) for over a month it's safe to say the Hilton house has implemented a strict necessity only spending budget. My mom was gracious enough to help stock our pantry before she left and I'm making it my February mission to use what we've got and spend as little as possible at the grocery store...the one BIG (I say that sarcastically) exception is apples. I gotta have my apples. With that being said it's now February 13th and we've spent only $11 on groceries! I've asked the Lord to give me peace and patience while we 'get back on our feet' per se and you know what? He's done more than just that. We received an unexpected check in the mail for $40 which we've stashed away and Kevin came home from school with an entire Salmon Casserole that one of the teachers gave him. Thank you Lord! I froze half and divided the rest into containers for lunches this week. As I enjoyed my helping of salmon casserole today I couldn't help but smile and thank the Lord again for providing such a delicious meal. To some, these two unexpectants may seem like nothing worth writing about, but to me they are living proof that the Lord will always provide and take care of us.

We count the unexpected as blessings.

I'm Back!

What a fantastic few weeks I've had! Here's the 1. 2. 3. on what I've been up too....
1. Mason is 6 weeks old! I can't believe how much he's grown already. He's gone from this teeny tiny little baby to a small version of a man! He has so much hair it's out of control. I love it so much.  I started him on an eat/wake/nap schedule about a 2 weeks ago and it's turning out to be one of my first great parenting decisions. He's napping during the day like a pro, doesn't fuss when he's up and is sleeping longer at night. After only 2 weeks he's averaging about 5-6 hrs of consecutive sleep. Monday night he went a full 8 hrs though!  It was bliss.  He's nearly rolling over and I just stare at him and wish time would stand still so I could capture every single moment and hold on to them forever.

2.I'm back to work now and it's just amazing being able to take Mason with me all day long.  What a huge blessing to spend all day with my baby and make $$ to add to my household!

3. Two new exciting items I'm diving into: Half Marathon Training and Clean Eating! More on both topics soon.

Hope you all are doing great!!

Sedona Hiking

A couple of weeks ago we took a mini day trip to Sedona to hike Devil's Bridge. A natural bridge formed from the red rocks- these pictu...
