CrossFit Games and California Beaches

A couple weeks ago we spent the weekend in California for the CrossFit Games and omg was it a blast! My parents were awesome and booked us a room at the same hotel they were staying at- the Shade. This swanky little hotel just a half mile from the beach. Upon first arrival I was pretty apprehensive.  We pulled in around 11pm and the valet man greeted us (valet only parking in this swanky place!) and as we headed for the lobby with our tired little Mason we walked into what seemed to be the most happening night club around-  music thumping, drinks pouring, men & ladies flirting.. a hotel lobby turned nightclub on the weekends.  As we walked to our room I heard a young guy say "nice PJ's" and looked at Mason. I responded with the look of a typical mother- tired from a long drive, defensive of my baby and annoyed by this twenty something year old who has no respect for darling little children.  The room lived up to it's high dollar price tag and we enjoy luxury items the minute we stepped in- including an overly cozy bed. After we said goodnight to my parents, we all slept soundly until morning.

The next day my apprehension lifted as all the hotel staff was more than happy to have M flying around in his hat & sandals. We grabbed breakfast, coffee and strolled to the beach. A perfect California day. I figured Mason would like the water but didn't anticipate him full on running right into it- laughing the entire way. He LOVED the ocean! He got waist deep in seconds, chased the pigeons and buried his feet in the sand... and can you believe, between Me, Kevin, my mom and Dad not one of us had a camera or phone? GASP.

Next we headed for the CrossFit games. Being a VIP means you get to go wherever you want and eat whatever you want. My kind of gig. It was great meeting all the top people of the company and hanging with other CrossFitters. It was REALLY awesome seeing all the CrossFit athletes compete. WOW. They are insane- in a good, strong, muscular way!

Our night and the next day were similar- lots of good eats, another walk to the beach (we ALL brought our iphones this time!), CrossFit Games, coffee.. and then we made our trek back to Arizona. It was such a refreshing time- even the drive was easy and enjoyable. Mason was a gem the entire time and dazzled everyone we met with his blue eyes and good behavior.  I'm already planning to spend an entire week next year so we get plenty more time at the beach and perhaps Kevin and I can even join in on for a drink at the lobby turned night club?

And now for pictures!

Sedona Hiking

A couple of weeks ago we took a mini day trip to Sedona to hike Devil's Bridge. A natural bridge formed from the red rocks- these pictu...
