A test of Patience. A test of Faith.
Did you know buying a House could test these things? I knew going into the home buying process that we would have our ups and downs, hugs and laughs AND stressful moments but I also knew the Lord would give Kevin and I the perfect home.
So, keeping that in mind, when I got the news that the home we were supposed to move into on Friday had two code violations, I didn't bat an eye. To be honest- I simply felt relief. For the past several weeks I was feeling incredibly overwhelmed with the thought of all the money and time Kevin and I would need to put into the house just to get it 'up and running'. In the first month we would have needed to spend upwards of $5000! I began to realize we were buying a shell of a house. My Faith in the Lord to provide us a home also gave me the understanding to know he would provide the money for those items, but I couldn't help but think: are we getting in over our heads? I wasn't surprised to also find out that in order to obtain the variance from the county for the code violations we would need to shell out more money and our interest rate and current loan would be affected.
After many days of quietly praying, talking with my family and meeting with our lender, Kevin and I chose to terminate the contract.
Don't worry- we aren't upset.
I'll admit I am gun-shy to announce we are moving forward on another house- one that is far better for us. I mean, I would just hate to have something go wrong and have to come back a second time and explain.. but I won't keep you in the dark completely :)
I have been eying an adorable two story home in a wonderful neighborhood for the past few days, so Kevin and I decided to take a look on Saturday afternoon.. and it is absolutely perfect. The seller accepted our offer yesterday and we are in the process of signing paperwork to close. The home was recently inspected and appraised so there shouldn't be any surprises... :)
Until we have the keys in our hands though I will spare any specific details. I am now daydreaming of neighborhood block parties, shouting hello to the neighbor ladies while Kev and I go for a Saturday morning jog, children riding bikes on the sidewalks and 'welcome to the neighborhood' doorbell rings the week we move in. Will all these things actually happen in the cute neighborhood I might call home? Probably not. I'm not moving to Wisteria Lane. But, for me, these daydreams are simply divine.
You can count on pictures, pictures, pictures once it's final.

Slacker
I know I've been a big time slacker by not posting lately. I am sorry!
The past few weeks have been busy busy busy. George and Tammy P were up for a visit and it was just awesome having them here! We all got to spend time with them and I can't wait for their next visit!
We are getting closer and closer to signing our final papers for our house. We just wrote up an addendum extending our closing date to 'on or before Friday, 25th'- Hopefully we'll be all moved into the new place before March 1st. I'm going nuts will all the decorating ideas floating around in my head! Kevin is also going nuts with all the decorating ideas floating around in my head. :)
Orie and Trish get into town on Sunday and I simply cannot wait.
Our calendar for the next month is jammed packed with wedding showers, birthday parties, my parents coming to town (yay!), houses closing, the actual Smith Wedding, spring break... etc... etc... etc... I will do my best to keep up with the posts and all the fun activities but forgive me in advance if I get behind!
